Sleeping Lions

• One of you becomes the sleeping lion, back turned towards the other players, eyes closed. The lion has a small 'treasure' (beanbag or something similar) behind them.
• The other players take turns trying to take the beanbag without the lion noticing them.

• In the Bible story from Ancient Babylon, Daniel was friends with King Darius and this made some men angry and jealous of him. They tried to find ways to get Daniel into trouble. I wonder if you have ever felt cross with someone?
• The men came up with a plan. What rule did they get King Darius to make?
• Why was it a difficult rule for Daniel to follow?
• Daniel didn’t follow this rule because he believed praying to God was the right thing to do. What did King Darius do to Daniel as a punishment?
• What surprising thing happened to Daniel that night?

Do you think it was ok for Daniel not to follow the King's new rule? Think of reasons why or why not.

Prayer is the special word we use to describe talking to God. God wants us to talk to him.

We can talk to him about anything, just like Daniel did. Don't worry if you are not sure what to say. Here's something to get you started:

              
Dear God,
Thank you that we can talk to you about anything.
Thank you for the story of Daniel which shows us how he spoke to you and how you kept him safe in a tricky and dangerous situation.
Help us to talk to you, ask you for help and to trust you to look after us.
Amen
