Set of the three Babylon Trilogy Books
Author: Gill Jacobs
Publisher: Day One
These three books have just been launched by Day One. Together, they tell the story of two brothers Yakov and Zeke and their cousin Sarah who are caught up in Nebuchadnezzar's siege of Jerusalem. These fictional adventure stories are set during the historical events recorded in the Bible books of Daniel, Jeremiah and Ezekiel and trace the 70 years of the Babylonian exile. The target age is 10 - 12 but the books would be suitable for any adults who would like to explore how the various Bible events fit together.
They can be bought separately as each book is complete in itself, although to get the whole story of the Babylonian exile you'll need all three – and Daniel in the lion's den doesn't happen until book 3!

Yakov is taken into Babylon, along with Daniel, to work in King Nebuchadnezzar's palace. He is caught up in the amazing events recorded in the Bible, including how Daniel is able to interpret Nebuchadnezzar's dreams. Meanwhile, his younger brother, Zeke, remains in Jerusalem with his sister and her family. He hears Jeremiah trying to warn the people of the coming invasion. Book One ends with King Jehoiachin being taken prisoner. At the same time, Zeke is among a further group of exiles sent to Babylon. Will he survive the arduous journey and find Yakov alive and well? Will the brothers' faith in the true God stand firm or falter in the face of such serious trials? Although the brothers and their families are fictional, Babylon's invasion of Judah and the experiences of the prophets, Jeremiah and Daniel, are most certainly not and their stories can be found in the books of the Bible bearing their name.
Eight years have passed since The Babylon Trilogy, Book One: Terror in the City. Yakov and Zeke are safe in Babylon following Nebuchadnezzar's invasion of Jerusalem. What is going to happen to their family and friends left in Jerusalem? Jeremiah says that the city will be completely destroyed and anyone left there shall die because people will not stop worshipping false gods. Will Yakov's and Zeke's plan to rescue Sarah and her friends succeed in time? And who is the mystery boy found lying on a Babylonian road? What is his name? Where are his family? Can they keep him safe? As we follow the exciting stories of our fictional families, we also discover more true events recorded in the Bible that happened in the time of Daniel, Jeremiah and Ezekiel. Can the family continue to trust God when everything seems bleak?
Thirty-five years have passed since The Babylon Trilogy, Book Two: Fear of the gods. Yakov and Zeke are now old men and they have grown-up children and grandchildren who were born in Babylon. In Book Three, we follow the adventures of Nebo, a young Babylonian boy, neglected and badly treated by his evil uncle. Yakov's family befriend him and try to help but find many obstacles in their way. Life is not so easy for the Jewish people in Babylon after Nebuchadnezzar dies but events change dramatically when Daniel experiences some life-threatening challenges. The family wonder if the prophesies of Jeremiah and Ezekiel, that one day they would return to Jerusalem, will ever come true. What will happen to Nebo? Will our fictional friends understand that God always does what he has promised?
Gill Jacobs lives in Hampshire with her husband John. They have two grown up daughters and two grandsons. She has always enjoyed working with children both as leader of the youth work in her church and also as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist. Her own experience of coming to faith as a child and her understanding of child development has convinced her of the need to teach children the truth while they are young. Being married to a converted Jew has given her insights into Jewish thinking and culture.
